The Bison project

null

Over time it has become clear that some of our customers needs to carry more weight in bigger boats than the OXE 200 is optimised for. Adhering to their needs Cimco Marine initiated the Bison project a few years back.

The target was to extend the OXE product range with: Increased engine output, reduced fuel consumption, reduced weight and reduced need for service. It has resulted in the development of a new Diesel powered outboard, with a six cylinders, twin turbo, 3 liter, diesel engine from BMW as a basis.

One of the challenges in the Bison project has been to combine the above mentioned requirements with the current and coming legislation for emissions. Another challenge has been to further increase the time between overhaul, allowing our customers to spend more time on the water.

After years of development and testing of parts separately and in controlled DYNO environment, the OXE 300 has now (November 2018) been tested on water for the first time. We are proud to announce that we are ahead of schedule regarding testing and that so far all testing has been successful. This is a great achievement for Cimco but specifically for our agile research and development team headed by Per Wigren.

From now on the prototype series will undergo an extensive test programme to ensure that the product delivers on our customers expectations, as previously been communicated the goal is to launch the OXE 300 in 2020.
